The Apocalyptic Dates in the Mayan CalendarThe ancient Mayans were very tuned into celestial cycles. They were brilliant mathematicians and astronomers and they have left so many evidences of a very sophisticated astronomy. They Mayans have also created an intricate calendar system that tracks cycles tens and thousands of years. They used about 20 calendars but the one that has raised all concern is on the 2012 Mayan calendar which is also known as the long count calendar which tracks world ages.

Occurring world age began on August 11, 3114 B.C and end on Dec. 21, 2012. The idea of a world age is that there is a big cycle of time and that represents one chapter or phase that humanity passes through. The Mayans wrote out their calendar as a series of dots and line. A modern day calendar would look like an odometer wherein the smaller sub-cycle reset before the larger cycles begin counting up.
