For many parents expecting their first child, the idea of having all nine months of patience to find the baby's sex is not one that can be considered. It seems that many cultures around the globe have perfected various methods for predicting the sex of a baby, apart from the scientific ones. In fact, it is estimated that 50-70% of the parents know how to find out whether their baby will be a boy or a girl.

Some use the needle trick- hold a needle by a thread and ask someone to keep it above your head; if the needle swings back and forth a girl will come, if the needle is spinning, prepare for a boy.

Others read pregnancy signs as morning sickness- if this symptom is a problem during pregnancy you're expecting a girl. The premise that supports this theory is based on the idea that during pregnancy a woman's body is 'flooded' with auxiliary hormones that come from her daughter. These hormones aggravate this symptom, while the body tries to get used to it.
