The following are some items which are thought to potentially occur during the 2011 calendar year, or are tentatively scheduled for that time frame. Some may be particularly dated, while others may only include a month, or even simply a note that they are expected to take place at some time during the whole year in question.
As of the time of this writing, the current mainstream IP standard is IPv4 (or Internet Protocol version 4). Its pool of unallocated addresses is expected to run out sometime during the year. IPv6 is already in use, and has been accepted as a standard protocol for over 10 years, however, it is not yet widely used.
On May 17th or May 10th (sources differ), the Canadian census for the 2011 calendar year is to take place. The population of Canada is expected to be just under 34 million people.
